Our 2o16 host is Alexander Armstrong!
Comedian, actor, quiz show host, singer, adventurer, presenter. Alexander Armstrong has many strings to his entertainment bow.
As a regular face of primetime TV he is best known for being one half of comedy duo Armstrong and Miller alongside fellow actor Ben Miller. He has hosted the hugely popular quiz show Pointless since it began in 2009. Other presenting roles have including Alexander Armstrong’s Big Ask and Epic Win, as well as frequently guest hosting on the BBC’s Have I Got News For You.
Alexander has also turned his hand to straight acting and has starred in numerous TV dramas including Love Life, Life Begins, Saxondale and he also appeared in Julia Davis’ 2012 comedy Hunderby. He has been working on voicing the children cartoon series of Danger Mouse which is due for release in 2015. In 2014, Alexander also appeared in the ITV2 post-apocalyptic sitcom Cockroaches where he played a character trying to survive a nuclear fallout. In addition to TV, Alexander has also appeared in a number of films including Jackboots on Whitehall, Skellig, Matchpoint and Churchill – The Hollywood Years.
Music is also a huge love of Alexander’s. In 2015 he joined forces with the stars of the Warner Music Group, working on a medley if classical songs for his forthcoming album. His musical debut is said to “celebrate songs of the British Isles” and reflect “the diversity and beauty of Britain’s pastoral song tradition” and is set to be released later this year.
